'ISN SANSKRITI' THE ART FESTIVAL- 2017-18 Rules and Regulations

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Only positive social themes can be presented. Care should be taken not to present any religious/political/controversial themes.
  • The theme, songs, costumes and make-up should be appropriate for school competitions and respect the culture and traditions of the country of residence and India.
  • The actions of smokers, drunkards, beggars or any such addicts are not allowed.
  • Do not hurt the sentiments of any religion, culture or nationality. Performances ridiculing individuals or religious sentiments are not allowed and will be disqualified.

 

1. FANCY DRESS (KG-II)

  • Maximum time allotted for performance is one minute. Dialogues are not allowed.
  • No audio cassettes to be played.
  • Do not cover the face of the participant and do not use explosive or sharp items as props.
  • No religious deity to be enacted..
  • The participants will be judged for their costumes, expression and presentation.
  • The actions of smokers, drunkards, beggars or any such addicts are not allowed.
  • Judging Criteria (Out of 50 Marks):
  1. Costume
  2. Perfection
  3. Presentation
  4. Theme

2. MONO ACT (III-V)

  • Maximum time allotted is two minutes.
  • The participants will be judged by his or her performance.
  • There should be a theme for performance.
  • Judging Criteria (Out of 50 Marks):
  1. Theme/Subject
  2. Perfection
  3. Voice Modulation
  4. Presentation

3. WESTERN KEYBOARD (V-XII)

  • Time allotted is four minutes.
  • No pre-recorded tunes to be played on key board.
  • The name of the song or tune should be mentioned.
  • Pre-programmed material such as USB drives / Floppy drives/ music / MIDI files / MP3 files / Karaoke shall not be allowed.
  • School will provide key board. The participants can bring their personal keyboards if required.
  • Judging Criteria (Out of 50 Marks):
  1. Choice of Piece
  2. Expression and Dynamics
  3. Technique
  4. Presentation
  5. Use of the keyboard's features

4. BHARATANATYAM SOLO (III-XII)

  • Maximum time allotted is five to eightminutes.
  • No film songs allowed.The theme, music, costumes and make-up should be of traditional Bharatanatyam style.
  • Participants will be judged for their costumes, rhythm, presentation, perfection, song selection and choreography.
  • Judging Criteria (Out of 50 Marks):
  1. Make-up, Costume & Accessories
  2. Music
  3. Natya
  4. Nritta
  5. Abhinaya

 

5. CONTEMPORARY DANCE SOLO (III-XII)

  • Duration of performance should be maximum five minutes.
  • Style of dance and song/music used should meet the following guidelines:
    • Contemporary dance does not permit the classical technique in favour of modern dances.
    • Contemporary dance is not necessarily narrative form of art. Choreography relies on technique.
    • Film songs are not permitted.
  • Judging Criteria (Out of 50 Marks):
  1. Rhythm &Synchronisation
  2. Elements of Dance
  3. Costumes & Accessories
  4. Entry, Exit & Choreography
  5. Presentation

6. MIME (V-XII)

  • Maximum time allotted is 4 - 5 minutes.
  • Maximum number of participant is 6 – 8.Background music is allowed.
  • The idea should be conveyed through expressions and performance only.
  • Do not use songs or recorded dialogues in the background.
  • Theme: Open theme.
  • Judging Criteria (Out of 50 Marks):
  1. Execution of theme
  2. Direction
  3. Action/Miming
  4. Synchronization and coordination
  5. Music, make-up and costume

7. FOLK/ SEMI CLASSICAL DANCE (LKG-XII)

  • Maximum time allotted is fiveminutes.
  • Minimum number of participants is six and maximum eight.
  • Film songs are not allowed.
  • Participants will be judged for their costumes, rhythm, presentation, perfection, synchronization, song selection and choreography.
  • Judging Criteria (Out of 50 Marks):
  1. Rhythm & Synchronization
  2. Elements of Dance
  3. Costumes & Accessories
  4. Entry, Exit, Formation & Choreography
  5. Presentation

 

8. INDIAN FOLK SONG (I-XII)

  • Maximum time allotted five minutes.
  • Minimum participant eight and maximum twelve.
  • Film songs and movie versions are not allowed.Any Indian language allowed.
  • Pre-programmed accompaniments on electronic keyboard/materials/music/MIDI files/MP3 files/Karaoke will NOT be allowed
  • Judging Criteria (Out of 50 Marks):
  1. Choice of Song
  2. Co-ordination
  3. Creativity & Improvisation
  4. Harmony
  5. Presentation

9. STREET PLAY (V-XII)

  • The team should introduce the play by stating its title and theme.
  • Prompting or use of script will not be allowed.Props, music (either live or recorded) are permitted.
  • Maximum time allotted is 10 minutes including the narration.
  • Minimum number of participants is eightand maximum ten.
  • Theme: Open theme
  • Medium should be English.
  • Props, music (either live or recorded) are permitted.
  • Judging Criteria(Out of 50 Marks)
  1. Costumes, Props & Use of Space 
  2. Execution of Theme & Climax 
  3. Acting
  4. Direction
  5. Overall Impact

10. DIGITALPHOTOGRAPHY (VI-XII)

  • Minimum number of participants is two and maximum four.
  • Theme: ISN SANSKRITI-THE ART FESTIVAL
  • Use of Photo editing/Album-making software is allowed.
  • The presentation should contain 10-15 photographs.
  •  Photos should not be downloaded from the internet. If found, the entry will be disqualified.
  • The entry should be in the form of power point presentation/video.
  • The duration of the competition will be Day 1 (Morning and Evening events) and the completed presentation should be submitted on Day 2 by 5 PM.
  • Judging Criteria (Out of 50 Marks):
  1. Required Elements of Photography
  2. Focus (Sharpness quality of subject), Lighting (Illumination of the subject) & Composition
  3. Theme (Execution of the theme in a creative way)
  4. Overall Impact

11. CREATE AN ADVERTISEMENT(V-XII)

  • Should be a short video of maximum 15-20 seconds.
  • Maximum number of participants is four.
  • Theme: Create an advertisement to Promote ISN SANSKRITI-THE ART FESTIVAL
  • Originality: The work should be original. (Should not be an ‘Ad’ already in use in the industry.)
  • The team can use video camera, animation software, PowerPoint movies, etc. for the creation of their advertisement.
  • Care should be taken not to project any unethical scenes. Footers such as ‘Statutory Warning’, ‘Creative Animation’ etc. if any needed should be given as in any standard advertisement.
  • Standard: The theme, dialogues, animations, costumes and make-up should be appropriate for school competitions and respect the culture and traditions of Oman.
  • The school will NOT provide cameras, software, computer, other gadgets etc. to the participants.

Students seeking admission must meet the requirements set by the school. A corresponding scale of age is fixed for the successive classes.

Resources

Various teaching aids like audio visuals, specimens etc. are used in the day to day classroom teaching. Journals for all the subjects as well as around more than 1000 books are also available for reading in the library.
